Women’s Lacrosse Sweeps Home Weekend to Remain Unbeaten

The #7 ranked Colby Women’s Lacrosse took home back-to-back wins this past weekend against Conn College and Endicott by scores of 17-9 and 9-8, respectively. The Mules improved to 3-0, having opened their season with a 10-8 win on the road against #1 -ranked Wesleyan.

On Saturday, Colby faced Conn, who jumped out to an early 1-0 lead behind a goal from Elizabeth Gill on a free position shot. Colby equalized on a free position attempt of their own, with Stella Regan ’26 finding the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Seconds later, Conn took the lead back on a man-up opportunity following a foul on Colby’s Tate Ban ’27. The lead would be short-lived, however, as Ally Franz ’24 continued her strong start to the season with a goal, her sixth of the season.

Conn goalie Violette Nidds made a pair of saves on the next Colby shots but was then beaten by Paige Saudek ’26 from the free position, giving the Mules a 3-2 advantage.

Colby piled on three additional  scores in the next minute, with Tori Congdon ’24, Franz, and Saudek all scoring. With just minutes remaining in the first quarter, Conn was unable to turn the momentum back in their favor, and the first frame ended with the Mules in control by a score of 6-2.

Conn clawed one back to start the second quarter with a goal from Campbell Johnston, but Kins Helmer ’25 responded, scoring  first of the season to restore the four-goal Mules lead. In the following minutes, Conn struggled to possess the ball and muster any meaningful attack on Colby’s defensive half. The Mules capitalized on the Camels’ struggles with another three-goal streak, this time with Congdon, Cami McDonald ’24, and Ainsley Dion ’25 recording the scores.

Gill finally stopped the slide for Conn, scoring to bring the score to 6-4. Franz completed her first half hat-trick with another goal in the closing seconds of the quarter, and the Mules took a commanding 11-4 lead into halftime.

Colby kept up the pace in the third quarter, with Regan recording the first goal of the half, her second of the game. Following a foul by Colby’s Emily Darby ’26, Johnston scored her second of the game for the Camels. Just seconds later, Gill added another Conn goal, which was followed shortly after by another Conn strike from Aine Downey.

Conn kept the momentum for much of the third, forcing several Colby turnovers, but was ultimately unable to add another goal before Ban scored for the Mules. Ban’s tally swung the momentum firmly back in favor of the Mules, as Franz, Helmer, and Dion all followed up with goals of their own.

With the score at 16-7 entering the final quarter, Conn managed to get two goals back and Gennie Littlejohn ’25 scored the final goal of the match, sealing the final score at 17-9.

On Sunday, amid a cold rainstorm, Colby jumped out to a 5-1 lead over Endicott behind goals from Helmer, Julia Jardina ’25, Dion, Congdon, and Saudek.

The Gulls brought the game within two goals after Mia Smith scored twice to start the second quarter. Abbie Belleville cut the Mules’ lead to one, and after trading goals back and forth, Dion brought Colby ahead by a score of 7-5.

Endicott’s Leah Black made the game 7-6 heading into halftime. Black would then score again to start the second half, tying the game.

Colby’s final two goals of the game came from Jardina and Congdon, and the game entered the fourth quarter with the Mules ahead by two.

Endicott scored early in the fourth but were unable to beat the Colby defense again, and the Mules walked away with a 9-8 victory. The Mules look ahead to another home doubleheader next weekend against Amherst and Roger Williams.
