Mules Baseball Gains Two Wins in Home Double-Header vs. Tufts

Colby baseball continued its strong season on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader against Tufts University. The Mules improved to 18-11 with a 4–2 win in game one and a 9–6 victory in game two.

Colby jumped out early in the first game, scoring four runs in the opening inning. Ryan Grace ‘25 crossed the plate first on a single by Corey Aubuchon `28. Moments later, Marco Zirpolo `27 drove in Myles Gythfeldt ‘28 with a base hit. Aubuchon and Zirpolo would also score in the inning thanks to singles from Ethan Hillenberg `25 and Max Diamond `28, respectively. Ryan Grecco `25 earned the win on the mound, striking out six across a strong outing.

In game two, the Mules again struck early, with Grace scoring on a Gythfeldt single in the first inning. Grace continued his big day at bat, singling in the fifth and later scoring on Diamond’s RBI. The Mules kept the pressure on in the later innings: Zirpolo brought in Tony Silva `26 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Grace doubled home Sam Nigro `28 in the seventh. The highlight of the game came when Ben Croteau `25 launched a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, putting Colby ahead for good.

The Mules showed resilience in both games, combining timely hitting with steady pitching to outlast the Jumbos. With the victories, Colby maintains momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.

Colby will look to carry this energy into its next matchup against Wesleyan in the NESCAC quarterfinals.
