Non-Staff Submission Portal

The Colby Echo can not hire every student who applies for a staff position. That said, we still want to introduce as many students as possible to journalism and the publishing industry. This year, we are encouraging students from any class/major to submit their ideas to us if they would like to publish an article in any given edition. If you want to write a piece for us, please email colbyecho1877@gmail.com with your article idea and a sense of two sources you might interview. Each week, we will go through our idea submissions and select 1-2 non-staff students who will have the exciting opportunity to have their article featured in our paper. Once selected, you will receive an email giving you further instructions and the go-ahead to get started on your piece. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone’s submissions!

Letters to the Editors

The Colby Echo encourages students, faculty, staff, and alumni to submit letters to the editors. Letters should be carefully edited and run about 1,000–1,200 words. They should present a clear thesis and address an issue relevant to the College community.

The Echo will not consider anonymous pieces. If you are an alum, please include a short bio—fewer than a hundred words—with your letter. The Echo reserves the right to copyedit letters for grammar and style, though it will never alter an author’s message. Direct all letters to the Echo’s email, colbyecho1877@gmail.com.
